Samsung Blocks Android 12L’s Taskbar In Third Party App

Android 12L’s Taskbar

Android 12L’s Taskbar primary feature for tablets and foldable is the taskbar, however for Samsung devices, activating a third-party launcher disables it.

Samsung’s Android 12L upgrade brings Google’s latest big-screen capabilities to its foldables and tablets. This update added the Taskbar to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Tab S8, and Galaxy Tab S7.

Using a third-party launcher disables the Android 12L taskbar on a Samsung smartphone. However, Nova Launcher and Niagara deactivate the enable taskbar setting.

It’s irritating, but somewhat logical.

It’s easy to disable Samsung’s Android 12L taskbar option in the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s settings. Scroll down “Looking for something else?” under Settings > Display > Navigation Bar. The section has a taskbar shortcut. It’s simple to see why Samsung eliminated this option while using a third-party launcher.

Moreover, A few minutes after utilising the taskbar on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 using Niagara Launcher – one of the few launchers that makes sense with the Fold 4’s two screens – you’ll find that it regularly fails and shows no applications. Since I initially tested this, the taskbar has been crashing more regularly, causing me to toggle the function on and off.

Android 12L For Devices

Google brought out Android 12L to Pixel smartphones in March 2022, and Lenovo, Microsoft, Nokia, and Samsung devices will get it later this year. The March update covers Pixel 2 smartphones, although the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro upgrade arrived later.

Lenovo’s Tab P12 Pro has the Android 12L developer preview, and Nokia’s T20 will get it.

Is Android 12L installable?

Google began rolling out Android 12L for Pixel smartphones in March. If you have a compatible device and haven’t received an update yet, go to Settings -> System Update and download any new updates. Depending on your Pixel phone, your build number should be:

In addition, If you haven’t received the update and can’t wait, you may manually flash Android 13 beta. You must get the 12.1.0 OTA package from Google at step two and use the right filename at step five. Following the guide should result in a Pixel smartphone running Android 12L.

When indicated, more manufacturers will receive the Android 12L upgrade in 2022. We will update this post as more devices are verified to receive the update.
