Poco is Xiaomi’s sub-brand for gaming and performance phones. The company primarily mainly sold mid- to high-end phones, but has now extended to affordable smartphones. The Poco M5 & Poco M5s follow the Poco M4 from late last year. Its latest budget solutions are powerful despite being cheap.
POCO’s M series cellphones are affordable.
The POCO M5s costs $210.
The normal M5 costs $190 with several sacrifices.
POCO began selling gaming phones at affordable rates in recent years after focusing on the mid-range category. Its latest pair in the M portfolio follows that legacy.
Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO M5 and M5s have excellent specifications for gaming and vlogging. Both gadgets have their uses, but POCO has cut corners for both. The M5s will be available in Europe on September 6 for $210 and the normal model for $190. Neither gadget, however, supports 5G.
POCO’s more costly new model has MediaTek’s Helio G95. The CPU has 6GB of RAM, which can be increased to 8GB virtually. The M5s’ 128GB of internal storage may be increased to 1TB through microSD.

Inside the Poco M5 is MediaTek’s Helio G99 chipset. Based on the 6nm TSMC node, it has two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A53 cores. Arm Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and 4/6GB RAM. A 6.58-inch FHD+ 90Hz LCD is protected by Gorilla Glass. The display may refresh at 30, 60, or 90Hz, depending on the content. A 5,000mAh battery powers the gadget, albeit the in-box charger is 22.5W.
Poco M5’s leather back panel is a design highlight. The panel is composed of plastic, yet it looks like leather. Poco M5’s back has a 50MP main camera, 2MP depth camera, and 2MP macro camera. 5MP f/2.2 selfie camera.
If performance isn’t a priority, get the Poco M5s. It has an outdated Helio G95 CPU but a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display and quad-rear cameras. 64MP f/1.8 main, 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide, and 2MP depth and macro sensors. 13MP f/2.4 front-facing camera.
The M5s has a 5,000mAh battery like the Poco M5. It enables 33W charging rates, which the firm says can fully charge the battery in an hour.
None of today’s phones have 5G, which is unusual given that the Poco M4 series had.
The entry-level Poco M5s with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage costs €210 / £180. 128GB costs €230/£200. Poco M5 costs €190/£190. These phones haven’t been seen in the US, where Poco rarely sells its products.
