Lenovo Updates two midrange Android tablets Thursday to compete with Apple’s iPad. The second-generation Tab P11 and Tab P11 Pro closely resemble last year’s models, but include several Lenovo updates that should appeal to anyone upgrading from an Amazon Fire or other cheap tablet.
Tab P11 and P11 Pro share only basic design and specs. Both have 11-inch screens with blue light filters to reduce eye strain. Lenovo hasn’t specified the cameras’ resolutions or features. Both models run Lenovo Freestyle software, which lets you link them to Windows-based Lenovo PCs for a portable second-screen experience.

The P11 Pro has an 11.2-inch OLED display with 2,560 by 1,536 pixels. Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and DCI-P3 colour gamut are supported. This tablet also comes with four JBL-tuned Dolby Atmos speakers. The P11 Pro’s 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch response rate should make mobile gaming smooth. 600 nits is max brightness.
The device’s processor is MediaTek Kompanio 1300T. 4GB, 6GB, or 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage are available. Last year’s model had a microSD card slot. Lenovo’s 8,000mAh battery should last 14 hours. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 6 provide wireless connectivity, and USB-C 3.0 supports DisplayPort output.
The 1.05-pound Tab P11 Pro is Oat or Storm Grey. Full-sized keyboard with trackpad, folio case, and Precision Pen 3 stylus. Company promises Android 14 next Lenovo updates. The $399 price undercuts the $599 Apple iPad Air.
The Tab P11 downshifts. 11.5-inch screen, but lower-resolution LCD (2,000 by 1,200 pixels). However, peak brightness drops to 400 nits and neither Dolby Vision nor HDR10 are supported. Dual microphones and quad speakers are Dolby Atmos-certified.
Lenovo’s tablet has a Mediatek Helio G99 processor, which limits RAM and storage to 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB, and 6GB/128GB. However, it does have a microSD card slot. Lenovo doesn’t specify the battery’s life. Wi-Fi-only model supports Wi-Fi 6E; LTE model uses Wi-Fi 5. Both have USB-C 2.0 and 3.5mm headphone jacks.
The 1.15-pound Lenovo Tab P11 is Sage or Storm Grey. Lenovo offers a keyboard pack, folio case, and Precision Pen 2. (2023). This slate comes with Android 12L, the tablet version of Android 12, and should get Android 14. The P11 will cost $249 in January 2023, competing with the $329 Apple iPad.
StatCounter says Android tablets have overtaken Apple’s iPad in North America (Opens in a new window). iPad held 59% of the market in November 2021, while Android held 41%. 54% and 46% now. Lenovo has plenty of opportunity with these affordable tablets, though Google may be a stiff competitor if it releases the Pixel Tablet this year.
