Huawei launched the Huawei Nova 10 Pro and Nova 10 at IFA 2022 in Berlin. The two new midrangers focus on photographic trends. The new smartphones have front and rear cameras and the Snapdragon 778 4G CPU.
The two handsets differ in display size, selfie camera module, and battery capacity. Huawei Nova 10 has a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED screen and 120z refresh rate. The Huawei Nova 10 Pro features the same, 6.78-inch panel.
Both handsets include 8GB of RAM, 128/256GB of storage, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 4G chipsets. HUAWEI’s HarmonyOS 2.0 runs on the Nova 10 and Nova 10 Pro. These devices lack Google Play.
HUAWEI’s HUAWEI Mobile Services (HMS) is “constantly improving to deliver greater maps and navigation, search, mail, and shopping across numerous devices,” according to a press statement. Huawei says HMS has 580 million monthly active users, with 45 million in Europe. App Gallery (HMS’s app store) has over 5.5 million registered developers, which is amazing given its young age.
Both devices have similar rear cameras. The Huawei Nova 10 has a 50MP f/1.9 main sensor, an 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide sensor, and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. The Nova 10 Pro has the same architecture and sensors but a 50MP f/1.8 camera.
Front differences also exist. The HUAWEI Nova 10’s centre cutout holds a 60MP f/2.4 ultrawide selfie camera. The Nova 10 Pro’s pill-shaped cutout includes an 8MP f/2.2 sensor and 60MP f/2.4 focused selfie camera.

Huawei’s Nova is in a different sector from the company’s photography-focused P-phones, despite its unusual front sensor configuration. The brand emphasises being “In-NOVA-tive” and providing “chic” experiences.
As a 30-year-old, I’m not its target market. The design’s embellishments scream “teens and young adults” Star Orbit Ring camera housing is the largest. Wider than the Nova 9’s ring. Its flashy gold and silver appearance and 3D glass and etchings surrounding its ring are made to be noticed.
Silver sides give it a fashion-forward flair. Given the fuss the Nova 10 Pro’s target made about the Nothing Phone 1’s back lighting, which I loathed for identical reasons, many will certainly adore it.
The phone feels as well crafted as many of the best midrange phones we’ve tried recently. The back was stiff when squeezed, and the phone was thin and light for its components.
The hole punch dual sensor housing in the screen’s top left was also discreet and smaller than I expected, making it less invasive than the big notches on many affordable/midrange devices and Apple’s iPhones.
The display was also comparable with the Nothing Phone 1 and Pixel 6a. The 6.78-inch OLED panel can operate at 120Hz or 60Hz. The screen was snappy and scrolling was nice at 120Hz. Due to the bright conditions and short time I had with it, I couldn’t test its colour accuracy or see how it handled games and streamed video. The entire review will include this.
Will Huawei Nova 10 Pro deliver?
HUAWEI offers one of the greatest camera quality on its high-end handsets. HUAWEI proved us with the Nova 10 series that it still has ways to wow us. It’s not often that midrangers have such rapid charging rates and outstanding camera arrangements.
Huawei has always had great front and rear camera layouts. This gadget is presumably geared at a younger population that uses the front camera more to capture crucial moments.
5G isn’t required today, but we would’ve liked to see it on these gadgets. It would have been obvious, but 5G isn’t much faster in Europe, so we don’t mind.
Overall, the HUAWEI Nova 10 and Nova 10 Pro are priced correctly and offer the hardware and specs we expected. These aren’t flawless, and we’ve highlighted caveats. We look forward to checking out one or both of the new gadgets.
