Why buy ebooks when you can borrow them from the library? If your library uses Libby or Hoopla, you can borrow and read books using the app.
Apps let you borrow audiobooks, periodicals, and other digital content. Some programmes allow you send ebooks to Kindle for easier reading.
You’ll need a library account first. If you wish to borrow books from the library, you need a physical card; some libraries offer virtual cards for ebooks.
Your library should provide login details to borrow ebooks online. If you need a barcode for an app, it’s on your library card. Contact local library or visit its website if you have questions about enrollment or services.

Libby
Libby has quietly supplanted the OverDrive app as the best way to look for, borrow, and read library ebooks. Download the iOS, Android, Windows, or Kindle Fire app. If supported, your library’s website may include links to download the app.
First, the app asks if you have a library card. Answer Yes, copy your card from another device, search for your library, or let Libby guess based on your location. Choose your library and enter your account info.
After creating an account and signing in, you can search for books by title, author, subject, and more. You can browse by subject or librarian-recommended titles.
Tap an ebook’s thumbnail to read its description, browse ratings, see a sample, mark it as a favourite, or see if it’s available. If so, tap Borrow and confirm.
If the book isn’t available, touch the Hold button to immediately borrow it when it is.
Open the book once it’s downloaded. Libby and Kindle apps can read downloaded books. Choose where to read it, and the app opens.
Tap the screen to search for text, switch between two-column and one-column mode, bookmark a page, and access settings.
Libby’s main screen displays all borrowed books. Tap the Books icon at the bottom to see your loans, holds, tags, and current book.
Go to your Shelf, touch the Manage Loan link for the book you wish to send, then pick Read With. Sign into your Amazon account under Kindle Apps & Devices.
On Amazon, utilise the drop-down menu to choose the device. Click Library Book. Open the Kindle app on your device to start reading.
