Jon Prosser, a reliable leaker, said the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be released on October 13, with pre-orders starting on October 6, the same day as the Mad by Google event. The Google Pixel Watch may possibly launch with the Pixel 7s.
The Pixel Watch just overcome many regulatory barriers, including the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. The smartwatch is nearly finished.
Design
Leaks and reports have shown what the watch will look like, including a non-functional unit “abandoned” at a bar. Google I/O 22’s design resembles this forgotten machine. The official renders show how the wearable will work because the screen is on.
The Pixel Watch has a clean, simple look similar to the Apple Watch. Google calls it a “domed” shape, with the bottom having recycled stainless steel. Right-side “tactile” scrolling crown helps navigating UI and large lists.
The hardware is a half-inch thick and 1.5 inches in diameter, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Watch. Display bezels look huge, but this may not be so evident when using a dark clock face, as Google does in its press previews.
The Google wristwatch has nice wristbands that are easy to attach and replace, but the company chose for a proprietary connector – you can’t use normal watch bands. So far, Google has exhibited rubber bands that give the watch a sporty appeal.

Specs And OS
Before the Snapdragon 3100 and 4100, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 2100 was the smartwatch CPU of choice. Recent rumours suggest the Pixel Watch could use Samsung’s Exynos processor instead of Qualcomm.
We assume an Exynos 9110 in the Pixel Watch considering Google’s cooperation with Samsung. This is a step behind the Exynos W920 processor in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and 4 Classic, however rumours say a co-processor will handle always-on functionality and health tracking.
Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon W5 and W5 Plus. First chip targets fitness trackers, second smartwatches. The CPU uses a 4nm technology, down from 12nm on previous-generation CPUs. It’ll be more power efficient and offload more tasks to the coprocessor. On the Pixel Watch? We’ll see.
It’ll run Wear OS, a Samsung-designed wearable platform powered by Google-owned Fitbit.
Fit edition
A new “Pixel Watch Fit” name is circulating, but we don’t know the details. Fit may cost $400. The leak doesn’t indicate whether this is the same device shown at I/O.
Two leakers have confirmed the Pixel Watch Fit name, so it may be true. It may be a different-performing, identical-looking variant of the watch, with more tracking features or a reduced price.
Google and Samsung laid the groundwork for Wear OS’s resurrection. The Android platform requires a superb smartwatch to demonstrate its full powers, so the Pixel Watch must deliver on all fronts.
