Creating An iCloud Shared Photo Library

August 15, 2022 by Elen Page Leave a Comment

iCloud Shared Photo Library

Apple released iOS 16’s iCloud Shared Photo Library to share photos through a different library. Family Sharing lets you share iPhone images and movies. Everyone may see your latest photos by creating a shared album and inviting others to view it.

Create a separate photo library in iCloud on your iPhone or iPad for sharing. You can choose which photos to move to the shared library and which to preserve in your personal library. Automatically share Camera app images.

You can share photos with up to five people using a Shared Photo Library. You’ll be suggested to share group images with library members. Shared items appear in each person’s iOS Photos app. Other members can browse, edit, like, delete, and add to the shared photographs and videos.

iCloud Photos

iOS 16 beta is required to set up an iCloud Shared Photo Library. Enable iCloud Photos if you haven’t already. Enable iCloud Photos in Settings > [Your name] > iCloud. Sync this iPhone, then sync your photographs.

Share photos

In iPhone or iPad Settings > Photos, create a Shared Library. Start Setup on Shared Library.
Tap Add Participants, then insert someone’s name, email address, or phone number. To access your contacts, tap the addition (+) icon. Review the invitees, then click Continue.
You’re then asked to select photographs for your Shared Library. You can move all, some, or none of your photographs and videos. Tap Continue after choosing from three alternatives.
Choosing All My Photos and Videos takes you to the next screen. If you choose Choose by Date, you must select a sharing start date. Start Date is a calendar date. Touch the photographs you want to share, then tap Add if you chose Choose Manually.

preview

After selecting photographs, preview the library before sharing. Tap Preview Shared Library to see the library’s contents. Hit the Select button at the top, choose the photographs, then tap Move to Personal Library at the bottom.
You can view your Personal and Shared Libraries from the preview screen. Tap People, then Personal Library in the upper right. You can then move more images between libraries.
You can customise your library’s presentation and layout. Tap People to zoom in or out. Choose Aspect Ratio Grid to display photos in their true aspect ratio.
Choose Filter to filter images and videos. Show Map displays geotagged images’ locations. Continue afterward.

Participate

Invite via Messages can be selected from the invitation screen. Tap Share Link to create a shareable link. You can share photos automatically with close participants or manually. Only if you wish to schedule photo sharing.

Anyone you invite can join the Shared Library using your text or link. They can then add their own photos. Participants’ Photos apps will display your shared library.
Shared Library members can switch between their own and shared libraries in Photos. Tap Albums, then See All to see all albums. Tap People to move between Shared, Personal, and Both Libraries.

Photo-editing

Anyone with shared library access can copy, distribute, favourite, or remove photos. Long-press a photo to access the menu. Tap a photo, then tap Edit at the top. Any participant can alter the image’s exposure, contrast, and brightness.

Library Management

You may manage the Shared Library in Settings > Photos > Shared Library. You can add or remove people, receive suggestions for photos to contribute, and delete the shared library.
