This week, Google Maps received significant improvements that added new features to the programme. Additionally, the app is delivering a new photorealistic 3D representation of iconic landmarks and more comprehensive routes for cyclists; making it even easier to share your location with friends.
For the first new feature; Google has dubbed it “overhead view”. An interactive 3D representation of prominent Maps destinations; designed to give the viewer a sense of what it’s like to be there. The goal, says the business; is to make it easier to decide which tourist attractions are worth seeing while on a trip.
An augmentation of something Google Maps had already been doing is the second surprise of this update. Cyclists will now have access to more comprehensive bike routes and essential information in the areas where the upgrade is already accessible. Using the app, for example, you’ll learn which routes have the most bike pathways and which ones have too many hills or are too steep.
Detailed cycling routes and a 3D overhead view have already begun rolling out, according to Google, and more are on the way “in the coming weeks”.
